Case Histories
Sally
Sally is an 8 year Irish Draught x Thoroughbred mare who had become very stiff and tense while working, especially on her right hind leg. She was also extremely cross about being groomed and tacked up; even putting her rugs on and off had become a hazardous exercise. It was discovered that the muscles of Sally's back and hindquarters had several areas of extreme muscle tension and irritability, known as myofascial trigger points. Any pressure applied caused a great deal of discomfort and these points can spontaneously generate pain impulses without any stimulus being applied. Following a single treatment she was much happier and the owner was definitely smiling. After a total of six treatments Sally's performance and demeanour had improved dramatically.
